Aviamech PC12 gets off the ground – literally!

During the last quarter of 2025 our PC12 type specific simulator was installed in its new home – Sim Bay number 4, at Simuflight in Midrand.

This was a complex operation as the simulator was lifted from the workshop where it was built to the first floor. This could only take place once the Sim Bay was ready and the visual System was ready.

Today, all Aviamech simulators employ a 250 degree x 30 degree field of view visual system projecting images onto a flat surface, cylindrical screen. Powerful computers and State-of-the-art High-Definition Laser projectors ensure clear, smooth graphics and accurate weather and terrain representation.

Once the simulator was in position preparation for the South Africa Civil Aviation Authority’s evaluation and approval commenced. This involved creating a set of master reference documentation and exhaustive flight testing to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and technical standards.

Aviamech fully support their customers through the evaluation process. A successful evaluation took place in late in 2025.

The Aviamech PC12 is based on the PC12/47 aircraft and is built into a cockpit from an actual aircraft resulting in a fully accurate training environment. An extensive range of failures can be triggered from the instructor operating station allowing student pilots to practice non-normal operations in complete safety.  For navigation training the simulator has full RNAV capability using twin GPS’s.
